Promoting an active and physically literate lifestyle shouldn’t just happen during the school day. That’s why this workshop was designed to promote healthy active living any time, any place, after (or before) school. You’ll walk away from this session with knowledge of instructional approaches and resources to help after school program leaders effectively integrate safe and inclusive physical activity into programming for children and youth. Who said after school learning can’t be fun?
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Understand the importance of physical activity and physical literacy for overall health and clarify their definitions.
- Understand how to overcome challenges in the after school setting.
- Understand how to create a physically and emotionally safe environment, accommodating programming for various needs, interests, ages and stages.
- Explore ways to start conversations with teams, management, community, and parents.
If you are interested in scheduling an in-person workshop, please contact PARC at firstname.lastname@example.org for pricing information.
This workshop is also available in French, Être actif après l’école.
