Sharing the Road in Norfolk County

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit and community coalition, Pathways for People, have recently partnered with the OPP and the Norfolk County Roads Department to bring Share the Road signs to the County.

This widely growing initiative was brought forward to Norfolk Council by a community member, representing Pathways for People.

The Durham Action Challenge

Last October the residents of the Durham Region were invited to participate in The Durham Action Challenge, a physical activity campaign that encouraged residents to get active and have fun. This was part of the broader 2010 physical activity communication campaign through the Durham Region Health Department that was promoting local residents to build physical activity into their daily routine.

Females Using Energy for Life (F.U.E.L.)

Program Description:
'Females Using Energy for Life' is an after-school, physical activity program targeted to female adolescents to help empower them to be more physically active. The program is designed to help high school girls develop the self-efficacy needed to learn new skills, and in turn, continue with a healthy and active lifestyle. This is promoted through non-threatening physical activity opportunities, health teaching, positive feedback, and encouragement to the girls in the program.
 

Grade 5 Action Pass

The Grade 5 Action Pass is available to grade 5 students in Durham Region for the third consecutive year with support from Durham Region Health Department, Durham Region municipal recreation centres (Town of Ajax, Township of Brock, Municipality of Clarington, City of Oshawa, City of Pickering, Township of Scugog, Township of Uxbridge and Town of Whitby), Durham Family YMCA and Durham College/UOIT Campus Ice Centre.
